[This piece, which reads “TRAUMA CENTER NOW,” references the then contemporary demand for the University of Chicago to reopen its Level-1 trauma center on the south side of Chicago. Community organizers had been demonstrating for this cause for years. While I do not usually write about my own work, I would criticize this piece for being a gesture disconnected from the efforts of Black people on the south side working to effect real change in their community.]
